I am currently a Resident Tutor in Physics in
Kirkland House at Harvard University. Besides that I am a full time dad
for my 16 month old son Cedar. We both enjoy going to music class,
playgroup, swim lessons, and playgrounds together, and love cooking
together at home.
In May 2005 I completed my PhD in theoretical
particle physics phenomenology from the Berkeley Physics Department
under the supervision of Hitoshi
Murayama. My research focused on using supersymmetry to explore
possible new physics signals at the B-factories, build novel models of
electroweak symmetry breaking, and learn more about high density
quantum chromodynamics.
In my spare time, I enjoy a number of outdoor
activities with my wife, Jenny Hoffman. We
have completed many marathons and ultramarathons, several triathlons
(including an ironman), and a 320-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail.
2007 was a great year of running for me, especially due to Cedar's long
afternoon naps when I ran pushing him (the "coach") in the running
stroller until he woke up. I set personal records in all 5 races I entered
(marathon, 50 km, 50 mile, 100 mile and 24 hours). Highlights included a
6th place finish at the Vermont 100
Mile Endurance Run and a Boston-qualifying time at the Philadelphia
marathon. Over New Year's we returned to the Across the Years 24-hour run from
Dec 31, 2007 to Jan 1, 2008, where I surpassed my previous distance and
made it 135 miles to finish first.
