Abstract
I will describe how some of the nonperturbative aspects of large-N gauge theories can be described using minimal 5-dimensional holographic duals, constructed by a mostly bottom-up approach. The holographic dual consists of an Einstein-dilaton system admitting asympottically Anti-de Sitter solutions. I will discuss aspects of these models like color confinement, glueball spectra and thermal phase transitions, and the connections between them.
